« Begilufin » Berlin Live: Geometry (#1) #266
TONITE on your RADIO!
It’s the Begilufin GEOMETRY special!
You read it right (angle), tonight your hexagonal hosts Ziv Lode and Dan Abbott bring you an hour of music with a GEOMETRY theme.
‘They’ say there are two sides to every record, but much to the contrary, we’ve dug up some classy triangular tunes, spherical sonics, rectangular rock’n’roll, and quite possibly even some geodesic grooves.
Can your ears dance the octagon dance? Tune in tonight and SHAPE UP.
On our ‘Island’ section tonight, we’ll be diving into ‘Manivelles’, the brand new album by Turkish-French duo Anadol & Marie Klock, a warmly switched-on melodic Dada affair to treasure.
As always, this is live and occasionally quite silly radio - we often throw in a couple of genuine mistakes for your entertainment.
- Roanoke Jug Band - Triangle Blues
- Slim & Slam - Vol Vist Du Gaily Star
- Phil Ochs - Outside Of A Small Circle Of Friends
- Danielson - Five Stars and Two Thumbs Up
- Kimba - Esfera
- King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Robot Stop
- Anadol & Marie Klock - Magnitude 6.3
- Anadol & Marie Klock - Rentrer à la maison
- Chicks On Speed - The Floating Pyramid Over Frankfurt That the Taxi Driver Saw When He Was Landing
- Emil Richards - Diamond (April)
Begilufin
Begilufin is an hour long radio show broadcast live twice a month from the heart Berlin on the station Pi Radio. On Begilufin we play a wild, confusing mess of international sounds, stretching from the birth of recorded music to something we heard two days ago. We do our best to ignore the normal, accentuate the weird, and ignore borders, boundaries and time-zones. Each show revolves around a central theme and then we surprise each other (and you, dear listener) with our selections live on air.
Since you ask, ‘Begilufin’ is a Hebrew word meaning intoxicated, inebriated, drunk, sozzled or smashed - a perfect description of the delirious off-centre mix of crazed music we like to spin on the show or indeed the effect it might have on your ears.
Begilufin was created by Ziv Lode in 2010. Ziv was joined by Dan Abbott a couples of years later after a chance meeting in a kindergarten playground revealed a mutual love of the music of Erkin ‘The Turkish Hendrix’ Koray.
