Who Are LuckyMe?
We are an extended family of musicians and artists founded in Scotland, UK. Some of us are beautiful. Others are ugly. Let us tell you how it all started.
LuckyMe / Music.Art.Parties started in Spring 2002 as a pipe dream to make hip hop in a place that was not on the map for hip hop. We went to the best clubs in our vicinity and got caught up in other musics whether it be techno, jazz, pop or rock. We ran parties at the Glasgow School of Art and a vegan rock venue called Stereo and simply, we weren't trying to do anything particularly innovative or different. We were just doing our thing.
In July 2007 we started moving as the label, artist collective and the website you see here today.
Our story is another real D.I.Y scene of artists and young-ass fake business men. All our friends are the product, industry and workforce behind LuckyMe. The still nameless hip hop / electronic beat varient that people associate us with has now become a global scene that has allowed us to get signed to our favourite labels, travel the world and meet very cool people; but there is more to the music we make and the artists we are feeling. So expect a label born out of the love of primary influence. We are here to fuck with genre and sensibility.
So with a renewed appreciation in 2010, we continue to put out our favourite shit - whether it be music, parties or artwork - for you to eat up in and enjoy in this far too cynical world.
And the assist goes to Glasgow.
We owe much to our scene and the somewhat mystical musical environment of Glasgow and it's Art School. Not all of our friends are Glasgow and as we grow up we will be releasing music from beyond its walls but we will always represent her - one of the most innovative scenes for live music in the world.
We are sorry if your contribution is left off the family tree. You are there in the clubs, wearing those pop socks. You are there in your rat infested flat on the near South Side, with a short in the power of your mpc. Thanks for making this time up here - where it's so damn cold - so damn hot.
