Post 89 Reunification and the Breakup of Yugoslavia: Images from the Wars. Discussion between Dunja Blažević and Boris Buden.

title

While much of Europe, both East and West were celebrating a new era of coming together, Yugoslavia was breaking up. Bloody wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo were both present and far removed from the changes in Europe. Again, the media played a strong role in what stories got told and artists also took up video. Did the wars create a new aesthetic? What was the role of art in this scenario. The discussion will look at works and address how the conflicts were represented, both inside and outside of the Former Yugoslavia.
