Pearl Sunrise Diné
Is Professor of Fiber Arts and Navajo Language at the Institute of American Indian Arts, (IAIA). She is a Fulbright Scholar to New Zealand and Cultural Ambassador. Pearl received the Lifetime Achievement Award from SWAIA (Indian Market). She is a 4th Generation Weaver from Whitewater, New Mexico. She now resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She spent most of the her life on the Navajo Reservation.
Shawna Shandiin Sunrise Diné /Santo Domingo
Is the third daughter of the late Bill A. Sunrise & current IAIA Professor Pearl Sunrise. She is an alumnus of IAIA, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an Ambassador of American for Indian Opportunities Program. Currently, she is the Producer/Director of the Public Access channel 27 show NATIVEZINE, visual mini-magazine that promotes the positive movement of INDIGENOUS Art, Politics & Culture through Native Eyes, Voice & Heart for the community. She is also the Producer for NATIVE MUSIC HOURS KANW 89.1 FM. She is a 5th generation Weaver and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
