Way Past Cool #40: Tom Waits Special
Episode 40… A milestone of sorts, but what to do? A 'best of'? Nah, that's a cop-out. A request show? Nah, you can listen to your own music, you don't need my help. Well, after careful consideration and deliberation (actually, 3 minutes - but leave me alone, I'm on a on a roll), I came up with an idea… I've decided to share a mixtape of music from my favourite artist of all time. Yes, Mr. Tom Waits
The idea came to me when Lou fucking Reed died. Of course, it's a shame that he died. It's a shame when ANYBODY dies. However, when any musician/celebrity dies these days… Out come all the Facebook tributes. Suddenly, after not seeing ONE post about Lou Reed in the last FOUR YEARS, everyone and their pet dog was posting about how upsetting this news was. As I was saying, this coincided with my ideas for my anniversary episode. It is my belief that we should celebrate great artists while they are still alive. We can all jump on the bandwagon when they die… That is bullshit. I see right through it and it makes me want to puke.
Thanks to everyone who has listened to my shows over the years. I would have quit a long time ago if it wasn't for you. I'm very grateful for your support, and I mean that from the heart of my bottom. I always try to entertain you and rock your socks off. The fact that you've stuck with me and been patient means that hopefully, I've succeeded.
Anyway, that's enough from me. I'm outta here… 'cos Tom Waits For No Man.
Special thanks to : Erik Carlson (my brother), Screamin' Soul Preacher (my evil twin), Gringo Starr (so ispirational) and Reverend Tom Frost (there would be no 'Way Past Cool' without you).
